Virtual Reality Training

The line between Virtual Reality (VR) and the real world becomes smaller and smaller with the increasing use of the Internet of Things (IoT) in factories, where objects are connected to the Internet to extend their use and develop their features. This allows data from these network connected devices to be transmitted to any location in the world and be altered to become other types of information and be included in virtual simulations.

Training staff in a period where people are restricted in their movement is difficult. Not only that, but other challenges faced by industry include training people in a safe environment as well as supporting field technicians on the job. However, within these challenges solutions exist. HYDAC mixed reality offers a new world of on-demand Virtual Reality training, instructor-guided training and infield real-time assistance. Most students start with on demand Virtual Reality training, where we send them Virtual Reality headsets and they embark on a journey with VR orientation and basic training. Through the miracle of VR, students will be immersed in a new world, a world where learning is fully immersive and fun. The basics can all be taught with step-by-step instructions that play at the speed in which students are comfortable.

The systems and components can be safely learnt, disassembled, reassembled and adjusted with photo-realistic items in our virtual world. In the next stage, students are guided by an instructor which joins them in the VR realm and unlocks new modules, and gives personalised one-on-one Virtual Reality training with guidance from the basics all the way through to advanced system troubleshooting and diagnostics. In order to enhance the learning experience, detailed schematics appear to the trainee. Students also have access to exploded view, operational guides, pop-up videos and safety instructions. We are able to use standard modules and the most common components, or we can create fully customised models. The training always covers safety procedure, including safe isolation, lock-out and tagging. With supervisor access, students can be guided and assessed in the VR world before they have to experience real systems. Now, by donning the augmented reality headsets, technicians can have real-time assistance when working in the field. All the exploded views, schematics, guides, videos and safety instructions travel with them as on-demand assistance. The headset’s camera allows a remote supervisor to see what you see, to verbally and visually assist, and to support and finally verify all actions and tasks completed. We can prepare the training modules and customise the training and field support solution based on your application.

IIoT Training

VR and other digitalisations in the industrial sector blend the real world with the virtual world into an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). This digital interconnection forms the groundwork that facilitates new business models using data analysis that will help to minimise expenditure and boost efficiency. HYDAC’s IIoT training course teaches the crucial core topics of connectivity, communication, data and programmability that will greatly enhance the knowledge and skill sets of engineers.

FAQs

  • What does a hydraulic training course cover?

A hydraulic training course covers the fundamentals of how hydraulic systems operate, along with an introduction to system components and safe working practices. Participants typically learn how to interpret schematics, understand how fluids behave under pressure, and recognise key parts such as pumps and valves. System design and troubleshooting may also be covered, helping learners to develop practical skills.

HYDAC’s hydraulic training is structured across three levels to suit different experience levels. Our entry-level course introduces hydraulic principles, safety and key components, while our intermediate and advanced courses build on this with hands-on work involving circuits and electronic controls. Our courses also include detailed textbooks and practical exercises, giving participants a solid understanding of system behaviour and the confidence to apply their knowledge in the field.

What skills are needed for hydraulic technicians?

Hydraulic technicians need a combination of technical understanding and practical ability to work effectively with fluid power systems. A strong grasp of how hydraulic systems operate, including the function of key components, is essential. They should be able to read and interpret schematics, identify faults and carry out maintenance tasks with confidence. Good problem-solving skills and a focus on safety are also important.

At HYDAC, our hydraulic training is designed to build skills progressively. Our Basic Hydraulics 1 course introduces core principles and safety awareness for those new to the field. As skills develop, our intermediate and advanced hydraulics courses add practical exercises, helping technicians apply their knowledge in complex, real-world scenarios.
