Innovative addition to diverter drive system

HYDAC designed, manufactured, and tested a hydraulic power unit for usage on an exhaust diverter drive system.

The use of an axial piston pump provides the required pressurised oil to control blade movement and use of a proportional directional valve with position monitoring achieves smooth movement.

The unit is equipped with a redundancy motor-pump set to continue operation and prevent stoppage in the event of a main motor pump malfunction.

NEMA motors, with custom bell housing and coupling, were used during the project.

 
Cylinder test bench HPU and control system

 

The cylinder test bench hydraulic power unit and control system was made for hydraulic cylinder testing, specifically for two off-cylinder test circuits with 22kW of installed power each.

Cylinder test bench hydraulic power unit and control system specifications include the following:

  • horsepower control with load sense pumps
  • maximum system operating pressure of 320 bar per circuit • maximum flow rate of 108L/min per circuit
  • one off-pilot circuit with 2.5L/min flow rate and 90 bar pilot pressure
  • one off-test bench sump circuit with 33L/min flow rate and 15 bar maximum pressure
  • tank size of 1200L
  • offline filtration and cooling system
  • custom designed and programmed cylinder test bench electrical starter and control system complete with touchscreen HMI.

  

Filter press hydraulic power unit designed to impress

The filter press hydraulic power unit was made for a zinc concentrate filter press hydraulic system.

The hydraulic system controls one main cylinder, six side cylinders and four bomb door cylinders.

Technical specifications for the project include:

  • main press cylinder – bore ᴓ 480mm, rod ᴓ 320mm x 2300mm stroke
  • main press cylinder force 5068kN
  • main system pressure – 280 bar
  • main system flow rate – 556L/min
  • installed power – 30kW
  • tank size – 1350L
  • 12 of 50L bladder accumulators

HYBOX Maxi

 

HYDAC’s HYBOX hydraulic power unit, designed for industrial use, incorporates high power density and functional flexibility in a compact and modular custom design system.

The unit, which spans drive and control sections, serves to transmit hydraulic power through a liquid medium.

The drive section is mounted onto the tank lid and consists of an electric motor powering a hydraulic pump through a drive coupling assembly and connecting bell housing.

The control section is also mounted onto the tank lid and in its most basic form consists of a main manifold block which incorporates many optional basic control and monitoring features, a return oil filter, and a filter breather.

The basic manifold has a combination of valve stacking modules which can easily be incorporated to manage flow and/or pressure to several operational functions.
