HYDAC’s mixed reality training extends to providing real-time technical guided support and infield maintenance assistance via AR headsets.
In fact, HYDAC offers hydraulic training in every conceivable format for learners who want to learn the basics of hydraulics or who want to upskill themselves in this engineering discipline, according to a HYDAC spokesperson.
Nationally recognised courses
Currently HYDAC has the following courses that meet “nationally recognised competencies”, namely basic hydraulics 1, maintain hydraulics 2, maintain hydraulics 3, and maintain hydraulic systems for electro-hydraulic control systems 5 whereas other courses on accumulators, coolers or filtration are not nationally recognised.
Flo - Fluid Power Learning Online
HYDAC’s Flo – Fluid Power Learning Online – hydraulics training platform has 15 hours of online content available, but learners can select subparts for their study at any time, anywhere in the world.
Courses include: hydraulic safety, fundamental hydraulic knowledge and principles, lubricants and their properties, hydraulic schematics, hydraulic pumps, pressure controls, directional control valves, flow controls, and load holding valves, among other courses.
The online program doesn’t dismiss the advantages of face-to-face learning, which still plays a big role in HYDAC’s training offering as do VR and AR, which can fit well into online engagement, according to the spokesperson.
Mobile training rig
HYDAC’s offering even extends to a mobile training rig, among other hardware, that HYDAC is able to deliver to a customer’s site for customised, technical hydraulic training.
“HYDAC takes a collaborative and customised approach to training when it serves purpose,” the spokesperson emphasises.
Customised training
Customised training solutions for companies can be based on specific requirements such as at times having customers bring their equipment to the company’s Altona carpark to on-site training programs where HYDAC develops its own technology tools to enable faster customer access to know-how.

To ensure hydraulic training meets learner and “work readiness” requirements HYDAC offers a skills matrix, which is a form of skills assessment.
The skills matrix links into HYDAC’s comprehensive range of standard training options selectable from its training calendars for courses running on standing programs through to fully customised programs as well as VR training, which it is ever expanding in line with industry requirements.
Training can take place at all HYDAC’s training centres located in Altona North, Melbourne; Bayswater, Western Australia; Banyo in Queensland; and Ingleburn, New South Wales.
Textbooks are required for some courses, with necessary textbook information accompanying course information.
