HYDAC once again came up with an ingenious solution to the many challenges faced by farmers when it comes to planting seeds with agricultural machinery.
The problem
Issues bandied around in this sector include a requirement for more electrical power on trailed implements, more sensors, and electronics for precision farming, too much seed wastage, imprecise seed planting, and an inability to use comfort functions simultaneously or different tractors in terms of old and new machines, among others.
Demand for electrical power
A 12V generator on agricultural equipment for planting seeds generates 50A to 150A (0.6kW to 1.8kW), with a maximum of 250A (3kW).
However, 54 seed rows tend to require about 416.7A (5kW).
HYDAC’s idea: convert existing hydraulic energy
This entails driving a generator by a hydraulic motor and converting hydraulic energy into electrical energy.
Key factors include:
oil being supplied by the tractor;
speed of the generator being controlled via the hydraulic control block;
the generator providing a hydraulic LS signal integration.
The conversion can result in 12V/DC, 24V/DC, or 48V/DC, according to a HYDAC spokesperson.
Therefore, HYDAC’s solution is a hydraulic driven generator, with two performance classes: GN1 and GN2.
