Challenged with Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) have not stopped TTC Control from notably increasing its production of TTC 500 control units.

TTControl, a joint-venture company of TTTech Group and HYDAC International, offers control systems and operator interfaces for mobile machinery.

According to a TTControl spokesperson, approximately 17,000 to 18,000 TTC 500s were produced in 2021 versus the production of 30,000 by mid-year 2022.

The spokesperson explains that the TTC 580 is a high-end electronic control solution for the off-highway industry.

“Delivery of the TTC 580 became tricky because vendor supply problems meant that the control solution could not be delivered with the standard chip,” he says.

Through partnership and collaboration with stakeholders and customers and developing new variants, HYDAC came up with several solutions.

“Currently, three variants are being produced and many broker components have been purchased for the LX16 FPGA, with customers accepting the surcharge for the broker component,” the spokesperson points out.

“In addition, the minimum number of TTC 580s to meet critical customer needs were supplied.”

Currently TTC 500 control units are available in five variants, TTC 508, TTC 510, TTC 540, TTC 580 and TTC 590, with different I/O sets and interfaces to meet the different requirements of OEMs for a high-end controller.

The controller TTC 580 is based on a modern 32-Bit microcontroller platform.It is currently the largest controller in the 500 series and is therefore particularly suitable for complex control tasks in centralised and decentralised control architectures.

Practically all system diagnostics are handled by an optimised safety component. This means the entire computing capacity is available to the main processor for the actual application.

The TTC 580 has an impressive number of highly flexible inputs and outputs. The outputs provide high individual and total currents or can be used alternatively as inputs.

To achieve differentiated safety levels, three separate PWM shutdown groups are available.  The TTC 580 was developed in accordance with international standards IEC 61508 and ISO/EN 13849 and is certified by TÜV NORD.

It meets the requirements of functional safety
according to SIL 2 and PL d.

The module is protected in a proven, robust, and compact housing, specially designed for the off-highway automotive industry.
